The Bay Fish and Chips opened its doors in August 2006 on Stonehavens’ beach promenade. It is owned and run by Calum Richardson and fiance Lindsay Petrie who have a combined experience of 23 years in the industry between them. Over the years they have gained many awards including Sea Fish Industry Authority Quality Awards and rbs shellivewire business growth challenge award. Calum won UK Young Fish Frier of the Year 2002-2004, while Lindsay was a finalist 2004-2005 and is now the proud winner of the current Young Fish Frier of the Year coveted title.
Calum and Lindsay believe staff training is a rewarding investment; staff are first aid and food hygiene trained and SVQ Hospitality training has been achieved at many levels. Calum has gone on to gain his D32 Assessors Qualification and is an assessor for the Seafish industry.

The Bay’s menu has a little twist to it. The Kiremko range has built in griddle on it so a healthy option can be offered to customers, not everything has to be fried. This also means that they cook a
wider variety of fish. Sea bass, bream , tuna, salmon, lemon sole, skate, rock, fresh local langoustines, john dory and squid are all regularly offered on the specials board when available. This gives the customer more choice and is an alternative to the much loved haddock.
Fish products are a big seller at the shop as the location is on the beach promenade. The view is breath taking and has prompted Calum and Lindsay to only sell their product in environmentally friendly packaging. They also use environmentally friendly cleaning materials which are kinder to marine life.
They plan to expand and open up a restaurant in the future and also have their eyes set on the fish and chip shop of the year competition and plan to knuckle down and aim high.
