Expert fish friers Elizabeth Kaye, Danny Horsley and Chris Calvert at
Mister C’s in Selby, North Yorkshire have recently been awarded with the
Seafish/NFFF Fish Frying Skills qualification - after meeting exacting
standards in exams and assessments. Each of the fantastic friers successfully
completed an evaluation process that consisted of an examination and various
practical tasks, including the preparation of batter and cooking fish
and chips.
The Seafish/NFFF Fish Frying Skills qualification was launched UK-wide
in December 2004 following a successful pilot programme. The aim of this
qualification is to raise standards in the fish frying industry and to
reward individuals who meet or exceed these standards.
Richard Wardell, Seafish Training Adviser, said: “It’s great that Elizabeth,
Danny and Chris have been awarded with their Seafish/NFFF Fish Frying
Skills certificates. Training in the fish frying sector of the seafood
industry is vital if standards are to be improved.”
Mark and Denise Corbally, the owners of Mister C’s said, “We are very
proud of what Elizabeth, Danny and Chris have achieved. Their qualifications
provide further evidence to our customers that they are eating quality
food that has been prepared and cooked by highly trained people.”
As a further step in their development, Mark and Denise have registered
Danny (who was a finalist in last years NFFF/Drywite Young Fish Frier
of the Year Competition) and his colleague Gillian O’Halloran to undertake
the Seafish/NFFF Customer Service Skills qualification.
