Food artist Nathan Wyburn creates edible portrait of Harry Kane

Article Date: 2018-07-09

Harry Kane’s steady footwork may have got England into the last 16, but renowned food artist Nathan Wyburn needed an equally steady hand to create his portrait of this year’s World Cup hero.

The artwork, which was commissioned by Pukka Pies, measures 60cm by 80cm and was created by Wyburn who used light, golden puff pastry as his canvas and All Steak gravy as his paint.

According to Wyburn it took him over 4 hours to create the one of a kind masterpiece, which features 40 All Steak Pukka Pies.

Wyburn comments on his inspiration: "I grew up in a football-loving family, so I wanted to create a tribute to Harry Kane – and what better way to do that then to marry the two things that football fans love…Pukka Pies and Harry Kane!”

It seems our nation are equally as excited about this year’s England squad and their chances of winning the games, with over one in ten saying it would be better than sex, and a third saying it would feel better than when AndyMurray won Wimbledon.*

To further celebrate our nation’s hat-trick hero, the brand is also offering the first 50 pie fans named Harry Kane free Pukka Pies vouchers until 15th July 2018, by tweeting them at @PukkaPies.**
