Fusco’s of Whitby, the family-owned business behind four of Yorkshire’s top fish and chips restaurants and takeaways, is getting into the spirit of the Captain Cook Festival with a special charity fundraiser and customer competition.

The festival marks the 250th anniversary of Captain James Cook’s maiden voyage of discovery from Whitby to the South Seas, and takes place over the weekend of 6th– 8th July.

To celebrate, Fusco’s of Whitby has pledged to donate 25p from every Yorkshire Special, which includes fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and a pot of tea, sold in the Quayside and Royal Fisheries restaurants over the weekend, to the Fisherman’s Mission. In addition, the 250thperson to purchase a meal from Fish Box, based on Langborne Road, will be given the dish for free.

Stuart Fusco, Head of Quayside, comments: "The Captain Cook Festival is a really exciting and memorable event for Whitby. As it celebrates a huge milestone, we wanted to mark it with something special and what better way than to give something back to a charity that’s close to our hearts.”

Stuart adds: "We have supported the Fisherman’s Mission for a number of years and are hoping to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.”
