Tracy Poskitt, owner of Pride of Bridlington, has won the award for training and development at the National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Competition, organised by Seafish.
Pride of Bridlington narrowly missed out on the title of the UK’s top chippy after competing as one of the ten regional finalists in the competition.
Tracy has an excellent training programme in place. New staff receive a comprehensive induction training programme and many staff also hold qualifications in food hygiene, fish frying and NVQ management skills.
A panel of expert industry judges saw Tracy as a clear winner because of her outstanding commitment to developing her staff.
Richard Wardell, Seafish training adviser said: “Training and development is crucial especially in the fish and chip industry. Standards need to be very high for shops to succeed and it’s important to keep staff motivated and, in turn, keep business fresh. Tracy has shown a perfect example of how investing in your staff can lead to excellent results for your business.”
