The Elite Fish & Chip Company is celebrating after having been shortlisted for one award and winning another!

The firm was presented with the Heart of the Community award at the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards on Tuesday 18th October, just hours after it was announced it has been shortlisted in the 2017 National Fish & Chip Awards.

Its Lincoln restaurant is the only one in the county to be have been named in the Top 10 Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year category at the prestigious awards.

"We were on such a high after finding out that we’ve been shortlisted in the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars and were blown away when we were called up on stage to receive the Heart of the Community award,” said Rachel Tweedale, Manager of The Elite Fish and Chip Company in Sleaford.

"We’re so proud to be a family-run business that has always worked hard to give back to the communities we’ve been such a big part of in Lincolnshire for over 40 years. This award is testament to the fantastic efforts of our team and we’d like to thank everyone – staff and customers alike – for their support.”

Now in their 20th year, the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards celebrate the hard work, innovation and ambition of the county’s brightest and best firms.

The Elite Fish & Chip Company was shortlisted and recognised for its strong ties with the armed forces and fundraising efforts; the firm has raised more than £100,000 for charity and, in 2015, paid for WW2 veteran Arthur Harrison to fly to Norway to see his late brother’s war grave for the first time.

Throughout 2016, the Elite is supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and has already raised over £5,000 for the cause, with plans to double this before the year is out.
