From mushy peas to fish and chips: hundreds turn out for Fry IT trade show at the BIC

Article Date: 2015-03-04

Hundreds of people turned out for the UK’s biggest fish and chip shop trade show in Bournemouth on Sunday.

From sauces to trade magazines and oven and fryer manufacturers to the people behind the National Fish and Chip Awards, an eclectic and wide range of suppliers in the region of around 1,400 people looked around the Fry IT event.

Burgers, kebabs, pizza, doughnuts, fried chicken, mushy peas and, of course, fish and chips, were all among the dishes of the day at the popular event organised by wholesaler Friars Pride.

The aim was to allow the company, based in Peterborough, to meet their customers after opening their base in Poole in 2013 and for fellow companies to check out the competition, during the one-day-only event at the BIC.

John Hopkins, manager of the Poole depot, said: "Fry IT was our way of introducing Friars Pride to new and existing chip shops.

"We provide a big proportion of shops across the country. The event went really well for us.”

Businesses could attend seminars including Staff Training and Development presented by staff from Burton Road Chippy, How to Earn More Money from Social Media by Poppies Fish & Chips and Refreshing Your Shop Image by Friars Pride.

Other entertainment and features during the day included an equipment shop, demonstrations, product launches and the chance for brands to taste test different food products.
