The Wetherby Whaler helps spread Christmas cheer with support for Wakefield charitable Santa Dash!

Article Date: 2014-11-27

A leading player in the fish and chip restaurant and take-away market in Yorkshire has delivered a special Christmas gift to a fun-filled charitable initiative.

The Wetherby Whaler, which has restaurants across Yorkshire, including Wakefield, has sponsored the Wakefield Hospice’s Santa Dash, contributing to the costs of the popular event, which will allow for more funds to be raised for the charity.

The Santa Dash, which will take place on December 7th at Pugneys Country Park at 10am, is a 2.5km Christmas fancy dress charity lap around the lake. In addition to the race, there will be entertainment for all ages, including face painting and a visit from Santa himself, who will trade in his sleigh and arrive in style in a helicopter.

Entry to the dash is priced at £6.00 for adults and £3.00 for children under the age of 16.

Keeley Harrison, Senior Fundraiser at theWakefield Hospice, said: "We would like to thank the Wetherby Whaler for its generous support, which will ensure that we are able to raise even more money for the hospice. The Santa Dash is always a fantastic event, with plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone in their best Christmas fancy dress!”

Phillip Murphy, Owner of the Wetherby Whaler Wakefield, said: "We believe that it is extremely important to give back to the community and support local initiatives.

"It is fantastic to be sponsoring a local cause that does such valuable work and helps a lot of people in the Wakefield area. We are looking forward to the Santa Dash and hope everyone will finish their day with a fish and chip tea!”
